 La gamme Sport Classic, qui rencontre un beau succès depuis sa présentation en 2003, copie le style des Ducati des années 70, caractérisée par un design sportif et minimaliste, mettant en valeur cadre et belle mécanique, le tout dans un habillage tout en courbe.
Toute la gamme Sport Classic fait dans le rétro, mais avec de la technologie moderne en embarquant le Desmo 1000DS: coupleux, ce bicylindres à 90° en L est idéal.  Les cylindres avec leurs ailettes de refroidissement et leur angle à 90° rendent hommage au travail de Taglioni. Le 1000DS est équipé du système desmo deux soupapes, de l'injection électronique et de la gestion électronique du moteur.
En 2007, la Sport 1000 sera dispo en deux versions: en plus de la version monoplace, elle existera en biplace avec un capot de selle, tout comme la Sport 1000S qui bénéficiera en plus d'une nouvelle livrée : cadre rouge, jantes et caches moteur noirs, et demi-carénage bulle rétro avec phare rond. La GT1000 quant à elle a droit à une nouvelle couleur: noir métallique et crème pour rappeler le design original Ducati Grand Tourer.
